IDFA is joining dairy lovers around the world today in celebrating the 17th annual World Milk Day with a “cheers!” to milk, recognizing both the nutrition and enjoyment that dairy brings. IDFA invites members to raise a glass in a toast to milk – and kick off June as National Dairy Month.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations began celebrating World Milk Day in 2001 to recognize the importance of milk as a global food. This year, dairy lovers in more than 50 countries are celebrating the day with 200-plus events, as well as posting photos and comments online using #WorldMilkDay.

The Global Dairy Platform, which is leading the World Milk Day celebration this year, invites dairy companies with social media accounts to post World Milk Day messages to be featured on WorldMilkDay.com. IDFA staff will be participating in this effort, so be sure to engage on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Cheers to Dairy Choices

Michelle Matto, RDN and IDFA nutrition consultant, also shared chilled glasses of milk with her sons today to recognize milk as a favorite, nutrient-dense choice that will help support their good health now and in the future. In a new blog celebrating World Milk Day, Matto highlighted the importance of June as a time for the industry to celebrate the variety and versatility of nutritious dairy products, especially when most Americans underconsume the amount of daily dairy servings recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Undeniably Dairy™ Campaign

This year, the festivities are taking a new spin with the launch of a promotional campaign called "Undeniably Dairy™.” This multiyear campaign is designed to remind Americans of all that is good about dairy, starting at the farm and ending with the foods they love. Check out these new videos from the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, which is sponsoring the Undeniably Dairy™ campaign.

IDFA and many member companies are supporting the campaign by sharing fun facts, compelling narratives and engaging graphics online to highlight the many healthy, flavorful and fun ways to choose dairy.

UndeniablyDairy.org has a variety of multimedia content that dairy farmers and dairy foods companies can share on Facebook, YouTube and other social platforms.

“We would also like to amplify and support our members’ messages about dairy and encourage you to share your company and brand efforts during National Dairy Month and beyond,” said Audra Kruse, IDFA manager of communications.
