President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is nominating Scott Gottlieb, M.D., to be commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.
Gottlieb, a practicing physician and resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, served as deputy commissioner at FDA from 2005 to 2007.
Stephen Ostroff, M.D., now serves as acting commissioner, but he is expected to return to the position of deputy commissioner for foods and veterinary medicine when the new commissioner is confirmed.
