The Minnesota Supreme Court last week named Al Franken the winner of that state's long-contested U.S. Senate race. Former Senator Norm Coleman immediately conceded the seat to Franken, who likely will be sworn in this week when the Senate returns from recess. Senator-elect Franken will serve on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and the Judiciary Committee. "Because Minnesota is a key dairy state, the sixth highest in milk production, it will be important for IDFA to begin working with the new senator and his staff," said Jerry Slominski, IDFA senior vice president of legislative and economic affairs.
