For more than 25 years, IDFA’s Dairy Accounting and Finance Workshop has provided dairy accounting and finance professionals with information and tools to enhance their understanding of critical financial functions that are specific to dairy and will enable them to improve their company’s bottom line.

“We first introduced the Dairy Cost Accounting Workshop as a forum to provide financial professionals in the dairy industry with the most current information about accounting techniques unique to our industry, said Neil Moran, IDFA senior vice president of finance, administration and trade show. “Since then, the Dairy Accounting and Finance Workshop has evolved into an annual event of broader scope, beneficial for both financial professionals and others in the industry.”

This year’s workshop, Dec. 12-13 in Charlotte, North Carolina, will comprehensively cover milk pricing, tax credits, cost segregation, federal and state milk reports, cost centers and ways to measure plant efficiency. Attendees also will learn about the latest software, best practices, industry news, opportunities and the benchmarks for cheese, ice cream, milk and cultured products manufacturers to use.

Sixteen hours of Accounting and Auditing Continuing Professional Education Credits will be awarded to attendees who complete the workshop.

Speakers

Each year, the workshop is presented by senior executives of Herbein + Company, Inc., a professional services firm that has advised dairy companies for more than 40 years.

Carl Herbein, CPA, President and CEO

Herbein leads a team of experienced dairy accounting professionals in providing services to a nationwide group of clients, including large multi-plant and small niche dairies processing fluid milk, frozen desserts, cultured products and cheese. Since founding the firm in 1972, Herbein has visited and provided services to more than 150 dairy processing facilities of all types and sizes.

Ron Mong, CPA, Senior Manager, Herbein + Company Inc.

Mong has developed spreadsheets and templates to assist dairies with report preparation, including analysis and explanation of Producer Settlement Fund invoices, cooperative milk invoicing and settlements, and other milk accounting areas. Mong leads the firm’s dairy consulting practice and has worked with dairy companies doing business in every federal order market in the country.
