IDFA is inviting several congressional representatives to its office in Washington, D.C., this year to welcome them as new members of the 116th Congress and introduce them to the dairy industry.
Last week, IDFA and Schwan’s Company of Marshall, Minnesota, co-hosted a meet-and-greet with Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., who represents South Dakota’s at-large congressional district. Johnson is a member of the House Agriculture Committee and the Education and Labor Committee.
Attendees at last week’s event included representatives from IDFA member companies and other industry partners. The discussions focused on trade, farm bill implementation and other emerging issues that will be important to the food and beverage industry in the 116th Congress.
"These introductory meetings allow our legislative team to get to know the new representatives, discuss our priorities with them and feature some delicious dairy products,” said Colin Newman, IDFA manager of legislative affairs and political programs. “Building these new relationships is critical for IDFA’s legislative success.”
IDFA looks forward to hosting more new members of Congress at future events. For more information, contact Newman at cnewman@idfa.org.
