IDFA continues to demonstrate that the dairy industry has a powerful economic impact – $620 billion in total – on the American economy. Did you know that dairy also indirectly supports a broad range of industries across the nation, like veterinary services? The dairy industry supports nearly 3,940 jobs in the veterinary services industry. Over 960 jobs are supported by the dairy industry when large operations that produce dairy products from their own farms use veterinarians to maintain the health and well being of there own stock. Furthermore, about 2,970 jobs are supported when dairy industry employees, or dairy supplier employees, spend their own wages to take their pets to the vet for routine check-ups or other health related issues. All told, the dairy industry creates nearly $179 million in wages and over $433.7 million in economic impact for the American veterinary services industry.
