In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.
In 2018, National Ice Cream Day will be Sunday, July 15.
In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."
So, Let’s Celebrate!
We encourage ice cream makers and consumers to celebrate July as National Ice Cream Month.
Here's how our some of our 60 ice cream members are celebrating:
- Graeter’s Manufacturing Co. is rewinding the clock with facts and photos from its more than 145 years of history.
- Perry’s Ice Cream Company, Inc. is celebrating its centennial anniversary with a look back at its 100 years of operation.
- Pierre’s Ice Cream Company is posting recipes and ideas for entertaining with ice cream on its blog, “The Latest Scoop.”

Through its @dairyidfa accounts on social media, we’re celebrating the month online, uniting ice cream lovers around the world and encouraging all to share exciting images of their favorite dessert and the many ways that they enjoy it.
Share our ice cream facts and figures with #NationalIceCreamMonth on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
We’ll publish short ice cream video clips and moving images that you can share. They air on IDFA’s YouTube page throughout the month.
