Dairy Industry Collaborates on Listeria Research

The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy created a Listeria Research Consortium in January to identify science-based solutions that will further protect consumers. Consortium members are food safety experts from Darigold, Inc.; Glanbia Foods Inc.; Great Lakes Cheese Co, Inc.; Hilmar Cheese Company, Inc.; Land O’Lakes Inc., Leprino Foods Company; Saputo Inc.; Sargento Foods Inc.; Schreiber Foods, Inc.; and the National Dairy Council. 

The members are seeking science-based technologies and tools to complement the industry’s focus on best-practice sharing and pathogen-control education. A request for research proposals went out to researchers across the country in June.

IDFA is an original member of the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, and Connie Tipton, IDFA president and CEO, is an Innovation Center board member.
