Workshop Offers Insight, Career Growth for Dairy Financial Pros

Apr 08, 2015

While the deadline to file individual taxes is near, there’s still time to register for IDFA's Dairy Accounting and Finance Workshop, May 12-13, in Rosemont, Ill. “The workshop is more than an accounting seminar,” said Neil Moran, IDFA senior vice president. “It will provide valuable information and tools for all dairy accountants and financial managers who want to further their careers and enhance their understanding of corporate financial functions that can lead to increased profitability.”

The Dairy Accounting and Finance Workshop is presented by Herbein + Company, Inc., a professional services firm that has advised dairy companies for more than 40 years. Attendees will review the ins and outs of milk pricing, tax credits, cost segregation, federal and state milk reports, cost centers and how to measure plant efficiency. Other sessions will review the latest financial software, best practices in financial reporting, industry news and industry benchmarks for cheese, ice cream, milk and cultured products.

Sixteen hours of Accounting and Auditing Continuing Professional Education Credits (CPE) will be awarded with the completion of this workshop.

Carl Herbein leads the Herbein team of experienced dairy accounting and professionals in providing services to a nationwide group of clients including large multi-plant and small niche dairies processing fluid milk, frozen desserts, cultured products and cheese. Since founding the firm in 1972, Herbein has served as partner-in-charge of services for the majority of Herbein’s dairy clients. He has visited and provided services to more than 150 dairy processing facilities of all types and sizes.

Ron Mong, CPA, has developed numerous spreadsheets and templates to assist dairies with their report preparation, including analysis and explanation of Producer Settlement Fund invoices, cooperative milk invoicing and settlements, and other milk accounting areas. Mong leads the dairy consulting practice for Herbein + Associates and much of the dairy regulatory work. Mong has experience in milk accounting with dairies doing business in every federal order market in the country.

The deadline to reserve a room at IDFA’s special rate is April 21. Register and make room reservations today.
