Attendees at the upcoming 2014 Washington Conference will get the “inside scoop” from Representative Jeff Denham (R-CA) when he addresses the Washington Insiders Breakfast on June 26.

"We are delighted that Rep. Denham has agreed to speak to our group," said Connie Tipton, IDFA president and CEO. "He brings a fresh perspective to agriculture and recognizes the important role of processors in the farm-to-table chain.”

Denham represents the 10th District of California in the U.S. House of Representatives. First elected in 2010, he is currently serving a second term in the 113th Congress. Denham sits on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Agriculture Committee, and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

The Washington Conference, IDFA’s legislative fly-in, provides attendees with valuable dairy policy briefings and the opportunity to meet and discuss industry priorities with policymakers in Washington. IDFA policy experts will brief attendees on important issues to the dairy industry and guide them through making the most of their congressional visits.

During meetings with members of Congress and their staff, attendees become the grassroots lobbyist, the strongest advocate, for their business. IDFA members interested in walking the halls of Capitol Hill and learning firsthand how policy is crafted should plan to attend.

There is still time to register, but it is quickly running out,” said Ashley Burch, assistant director of political programs. “The sooner we receive a registration, the better the chance we will be able to schedule all of an attendee’s desired congressional visits and that they will meet with his or her members of Congress.”

The Conference will conclude with the 32nd Annual Capitol Hill Ice Cream Party, the always popular opportunity for attendees, legislators and staff to relax and enjoy America's favorite summertime treat.
