IDFA has added a new webinar to its fall educational program to help dairy professionals understand the most recent rules released under the Food Safety Modernization Act. The webinar, FSMA: Foreign Supplier Verification and Third-Party Accreditation will be held on October 24, 2013, 1:30-3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Webinar participants will hear from Joe Levitt, partner at Hogan Lovells US LLP and former director of the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). He will address what is included in the proposed rules on foreign supplier verification programs and accreditation of third-party auditors, including key effective dates and the implementation timeline for compliance.

“These rules, while directed at foreign facilities, are the harbinger for how domestic supplier verification and third-party audits will play out,” said Clay Detlefsen, IDFA vice president for regulatory affairs.
