Although U.S. senators last week celebrated the passage of S. 510, the food-safety bill, with the expectation that it would be quickly accepted by the House of Representatives and sent to the president, a procedural problem discovered hours after it passed forced the House to send it back to the Senate one more time.

As a result, the House on Wednesday wrapped the Senate food-safety bill into a "must pass" federal spending bill to fund the government through September 30, 2011. This Continuing Resolution passed in the House and is expected to be passed by the Senate before the current funding resolution expires on December 18, 2010.
