Dr. Martin Easter is Chief Scientific Officer and General Manager of Hygiena International based in UK. He was co-founder of Hygiena.

Martin has more than 35 years’ experience as an industrial microbiologist and in food safety, during which he has developed an expertise and reputation for rapid methods development and implementation.  At Grand Metropolitan Foods Group, he was Director for Food Safety and Quality Systems, responsible for 36 manufacturing sites in 7 European countries and reported into Pillsbury HQ in Minneapolis, where he  was involved in the pioneer days of modern HACCP implementation. As Business Development Manager at Celsis, Martin was responsible for the promoting the use of ATP bioluminescence for several application in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical markets. He was instrumental in establishing the evaluation procedures for rapid and alternative microbiology methods in the pharmaceutical sector (PDA Technical 33), as well as getting certification for the first rapid microbiology tests for both cosmetics and pharmaceutical applications through AOAC RI Performance Tested Method™. He is editor of a book on Rapid Methods in the Pharmaceutical Industry and several scientific publications.
