IDFA filed comments yesterday on two proposed rules regarding menu nutrition labeling for restaurants and calorie labeling for foods and beverages in vending machines. IDFA’s comments on the proposed rule for menu labeling recommended that grocery stores and supermarkets not be required to comply with the menu labeling rules, in support of comments submitted by the Food Marketing Institute (FMI). Comments on the proposed requirements to label calorie content on foods and beverages sold through vending machines supported the comments of the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA), the trade association for vending machine operators.
