Members of Congress and their staffs aren’t the only ones enjoying ice cream with IDFA this summer. Through the @dairyidfa accounts on social media, IDFA will move the celebration online this Sunday for the start of National Ice Cream Month, uniting ice cream lovers around the world and encouraging all to share exciting images of their favorite dessert and the many ways that they enjoy it.

The National Ice Cream Month campaign is IDFA’s most popular social media celebration, reaching tens of thousands of ice cream fans on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. In addition to bringing the action online from IDFA’s Capitol Hill and USDA ice cream parties, it serves as an opportunity to showcase news from IDFA’s ice cream members and engages social media users with a wide range of IDFA multimedia assets and in an interactive photo contest.

Here are a few ways IDFA members can join the fun.

IDFA will share ice cream facts and figures, including findings from IDFA’s 2017 Ice Cream Member Survey, on a daily basis with its online following of more than 7,000 social media users. Members can follow along with the activity using #NationalIceCreamMonth and use the hashtag in their ice cream posts.

IDFA will publish short ice cream video clips and moving images that members can share. They air on IDFA’s YouTube page throughout the month.

IDFA will invite followers on Instagram to participate in the annual Instagram Ice Cream Photo Contest by sharing photos showing how they celebrate National Ice Cream Month. One winner will be recognized each week and receive a prize of free ice cream. Members may follow along with the entrants on @dairyidfa, IDFA’s account, and vote on the photos by liking content.

IDFA will also amplify members’ National Ice Cream Month social celebrations. Contact Audra Kruse, IDFA manager of communications, at akruse@idfa.org, for more information or to discuss opportunities to collaborate.
