IDFA was recognized recently for its contributions to the safety of dairy products and to the Food Safety Operating Committee of the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy. Clay Hough, IDFA senior group vice president and general counsel, and John Allan, IDFA vice president of regulatory affairs and international standards, represented IDFA in these efforts.

As a founding member of the committee, IDFA has collaborated with other dairy industry leaders to conduct over 50 sessions and workshops that have trained 2,200 dairy plant professionals in cutting-edge food safety practices. IDFA also helped develop a new dairy industry guidance document for the control of Listeria monocytogenes, that has now become an industry standard. Read “Control of Listeria Monocytogenes: Guidance for the U.S. Dairy Industry,” here.

Hough has been a member of the committee since its inception. “IDFA has been an integral part of this committee from the very start,” he said. “I’m proud of the acknowledgement of the priority and investment IDFA has made and will continue to make for the progress of food safety in our industry.”

Allan has served as a subject matter expert for the past two years and contributed to the development and final review of the Listeria control guidance.
