The U.S. Department of Agriculture will hold a federal order hearing on October 4 in Cincinnati to consider changes to the definition of a pool plant in the Mideast Milk Marketing Order.

Six cooperatives petitioned USDA to amend the definition to say that a distributing plant located within the Mideast Milk Marketing Order should be regulated if half of its total route disposition is within any federal order marketing area and if "its sales patterns are such that no one order has more than 25% of its sales volume."
