Senator Bernard Sanders (I-VT) took to the floor of the U.S. Senate last week to congratulate Cabot Creamery Cooperative on reaching its 90th anniversary. According to Saunders, ever since 94 farmers founded the cooperative for $5 per cow plus a cord of wood each, family farms have remained the backbone of Cabot Creamery's success. Noting that Vermont's dairy farmers are facing difficult times, Saunders commended the cooperative for continuing to offer a market for the milk and a valuable return on the owners' years of investment.
