In addition to Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan, U.S. Representative David Scott (D-GA) will be a featured speaker at the Washington Insider's Breakfast on June 18 during IDFA's Washington Conference. Scott is the new chair of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry, and serves on the House Financial Services Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee.

This breakfast is designed to offer attendees an intimate and interactive session with legislators and administrative officials who are responsible for shaping business and dairy policy. Scott will share his view from the Hill on agricultural, small business and other issues, and will provide a privileged look into how Congress is working with the new administration.

In his new role as chairman, Scott has presided over recent hearings to review the food safety programs that fall under the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The dairy subcommittee also oversees the Federal Milk Marketing Orders and all dairy price support programs.

Before coming to Washington, Scott served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1974 to 1982 and in the Georgia Senate from 1983 to 2002. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Florida A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania.

Washington Conference will be held June 17-18 at the Hotel Monaco, a four-star luxury hotel located within walking distance of many Washington landmarks. This year, IDFA has added a new Family Fun Program for children and spouses, so be sure to bring the entire family. A full conference agenda, hotel information and registration forms are available here.
