IDFA Tells Ohio Legislators that Cost of Product Labeling is Grossly Underestimated

"The Department's Fiscal Analysis grossly underestimates the impact of this rule, particularly for processors who market across state lines," said Jerry Slominski, IDFA senior vice president, at the second Ohio public hearing regarding the state's revised rule on the use of product absence claims. Advocating for dairy processors' right to use truthful and not misleading labels, Slominski detailed the difficulties faced by many processors if required to use an Ohio-specific label. "The Department's fiscal analysis fails to consider that many companies may be forced to develop and use one label for products in Ohio and a different label for products in other states," said Slominski. "Such costs will easily top tens of thousands of dollars." To read the testimony, click here.
