IDFA wrapped up its celebration of National Ice Cream Month last week with the announcement of the winners of the fourth annual Instagram Ice Cream Photo Contest. The three winning photos captured rainbow scoops and sprinkles, colorfully swirled ice cream cones and a head-to-toe homage to the ice cream soda jerk. They were submitted by @teacupsandturkeylegs, @nyfoodiefamily and @erica_tighe.

IDFA asked participants to post photos on the popular smartphone app, showing how they were celebrating National Ice Cream Month. The entry with the most “likes” was named the winner for that week, and the submitting photographers will receive free ice cream treats donated by IDFA member companies.

“Our entries this year showcased the colorful, delicious and creative ways lovers of ice cream celebrate the sweet treat,” said Peggy Armstrong, IDFA vice president of communications. “IDFA wants to thank the participants and our member companies for making this year’s contest a success.”

Twitter and Facebook

IDFA also celebrated National Ice Cream Month on other social platforms, engaging Twitter and Facebook followers with daily ice cream fun facts, photos and news articles.

To keep the celebration rolling all month long, IDFA debuted a series of fast-motion, short-cut recipe films. The series, “Sunday Sundaes,” featured a fun and delicious ice cream sundae recipe on Sundays during the month of July, giving viewers a new way to celebrate each week.

With viewing time of less than a minute, the videos featured recipes for a decadent chocolate-shell sundae bowl, cherry-garnished ice cream cupcakes, mounds of marshmallows and graham cracker crumbs with vanilla ice cream in a s’more-topped treat and baseball-inspired scoops of ice cream complete with pinstripes of red licorice. Watch them all here.
