The Trans-Pacific Partnership, approved last fall by the Obama administration and now awaiting congressional action, will bring new opportunities for U.S. dairy exports to Vietnam, Beth Hughes, IDFA director of international affairs, told DairyReporter.com last week.

Tariffs on some products will be eliminated within five years under the trade pact, while tariffs on cheese, milk powders and whey will be lifted immediately upon ratification and implementation.

IDFA and others in the dairy industry have called on Congress to pass the pact this year.
