U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) announced last week that, due to the recent lapse in federal government funding, the U.S. Dairy Import Licensing Program participants were unable to surrender quantities of 2013 licenses or to apply for 2014 licenses.

The deadline to surrender amounts of 2013 licenses was extended from October 1, 2013, to October 21, 2013. The deadline to apply for 2014 licenses has been extended from October 15, 2013, to end of the day on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

The licensing system covers nearly all dairy products such as butter, dried skim or whole milk, and cheese.
