Sodium Reduction Remains a Focus for IOM, Dairy Companies

Dec 12, 2012

The Institute of Medicine has created a committee to evaluate research that has been used to assess the relationship between sodium and health since 2005. The "Committee on the Consequences of Sodium Reduction" held its first public workshop last week and plans to release recommendations sometime next year.

The industry also is making voluntary efforts to reduce sodium in dairy products, which Michelle Matto, IDFA nutrition and labeling consultant, covers in her Nutrition Notes blog.
