IDFA has joined the SmartWay Transport® Partnership Affiliate Program, offered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to provide members with information on the latest fuel-saving strategies and technologies. The program is a collaboration between the federal government and private groups to help freight shippers, carriers and logistics companies improve their fuel efficiency, reduce emissions and save money. IDFA encourages individual companies to participate in the program as corporate partners.

Since the program began in 2004, SmartWay partners have saved 55 million barrels of oil, which is equivalent to removing three million cars from the road for a year. Participating companies have slashed their fuel costs, too, saving a total of $6.5 billion, according to EPA.

In addition to joining, IDFA has agreed to participate in the 2012 SmartWay Affiliate Challenge to help raise awareness for the program and support EPA's efforts to improve and protect the environment.
