IDFA Vice President and Chief Economist Bob Yonkers attended the 2012 Regional Conference of the International Dairy Federation last week in Seoul, South Korea. Yonkers is a member of the IDF Science and Program Coordinating Committee (SPCC) and represents the Standing Committees on Dairy Policies and Economics and Marketing on the SPCC.

The conference, held March 20-23, drew more than 300 attendees, with nearly 100 coming from other countries outside of Korea. They gathered to share knowledge and information about milk supply and demand systems, discuss marketing success stories and review generic marketing concepts that Asian dairy companies can use to gain international attention.

"As a major region of dairy growth worldwide, there is a rapidly growing demand for milk and milk products in Asia," said Christian Robert, IDF director general. "The involvement of IDF emphasizes the utmost importance to share experiences, best practices, and scientific and technological knowledge to foster global collaboration
for dairy development."

Yonkers was a member of the program committee for the conference and served as chair of the afternoon sessions on the first day.

Earlier last week in Seoul, the IDF Standing Committees on Dairy Policies and Economics and Marketing held their spring meetings, and Yonkers reported on issues before the SPCC and participated in other business of those committees. He also joined the tour of a South Korean dairy laboratory and processing facility.
