Research findings recently published in Diabetes Care found that the consumption of dairy products was associated with decreased incidence of metabolic syndrome and associated risk factors for cardiovascular disease. People with the syndrome have at least three metabolic abnormalities, including central obesity, high blood pressure and impaired glucose and lipid metabolism, which can contribute to cardiovascular disease.

The potential effect of dairy products on metabolic syndrome and obesity-related diseases is a priority research area for the dairy industry and the Dairy Research Institute. Read more here.
