Bill Bruins, a Wisconsin dairy farmer and president of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, recently called for farmers to let supply and demand drive the dairy marketplace. In an opinion piece posted last week at examiner.com, Bruins states, "If history repeats itself (and it usually does), the extreme low prices farmers are suffering today will likely rebound next year." Bruins' closing argument parallels IDFA's position that the world market is vital to the long-term growth of the U.S. dairy industry.
