Thornton Named Deputy Under Secretary at USDA

Apr 13, 2009

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on Friday announced the appointment of Janey Thornton as deputy under secretary for food, nutrition and consumer services. Earlier this year, IDFA sent a letter to the transition team of then President-elect Obama, recommending Thornton, a school nutrition expert and board member of the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP), for the position. "We believe she will be a great asset to Secretary Vilsack, and to the nation's children and families and the institutions who serve them," said Clay Hough, IDFA senior group vice president.
