Congress Wraps up 109th Session; Hearing on Class I and II Pricing Begins Today

The U.S. Congress finished up around 5 a.m. Saturday with a tax and trade package as well as extensions on spending that leave most of the appropriations for the next Congress to decide. The new Congress will convene January 4, and has vowed to aggressively tackle some of its priority issues, such as a minimum wage increase, during the first 100 hours it is in session. IDFA will provide a more detailed wrap up and analysis of the 109th Congress in an upcoming issue of News Update. Also, IDFA Chief Economist Bob Yonkers is participating this week, along with several consultants and IDFA members, in a U.S. Department of Agriculture hearing to oppose increases in Class I and II prices. The hearing is expected to last all week. IDFA will provide a complete recap of the hearing in the next issue of News Update.
