The dairy foods industry has been doubling down in recent years to seek out and destroy Listeria and other pathogens, said John Allan, IDFA vice president of regulatory and international standards, in his “Rules and Regs” column in Dairy Foods magazine this month.

In the article, Allan detailed the work IDFA and its constituent International Ice Cream Association has done over the past year to enhance ice cream’s positive food safety track record.

He also announced the availability of an in-depth and practical Listeria control guidance document for ice cream and other ready-to-eat dairy products, created by a team of industry experts through the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy.
