In her latest Cheese Market News column, Connie Tipton, IDFA president and CEO, expressed concern that members of Congress are increasingly relying on opinions of constituents rather than on established facts when making decisions on issues like labeling products with genetically engineered ingredients.

She lamented that candidates and politicians seem to be on the fringe of every issue and debate, but she held out hope that coming changes will eventually lead to a more collegial political environment.
