John Allan, IDFA vice president of regulatory affairs and international standards, has been named a member of the Steering Committee for the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA). FSPCA is a broad-based public-private alliance consisting of key industry, academic and government stakeholders whose mission is to support safe food production.
The Food and Drug Administration in cooperation with the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute for Food Safety and Health created the Alliance to develop training courses and materials on preventing contamination for both human and animal food during production. The materials will help industry—particularly small- and medium-size companies – comply with the new preventive controls rules that will be part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
The Alliance is funded by a one-year, $1 million grant to the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute for Food Safety and Health, which is a nationally recognized leader in food safety.
