A new video from the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy features Clay Detlefsen, IDFA vice president of regulatory affairs, and other industry stakeholders interested in sustainability. The video highlights the industry's collaborative effort to produce the "Sustainability Guide and Framework," which will guide voluntary measurement and reporting and support organizational efforts to assess and communicate sustainability progress.

"The Sustainability Framework is a resource and a tool that helps processors and producers to convey their sustainability messaging in an honest and meaningful way. It will really benefit the industry," said Detlefsen. Watch the video here.

Over the past 18 months, more than 200 organizations have collaborated on drafting and developing a phased approach, which includes testing and implementation. The framework will include environmental, social and economic indicators and metrics for farms and dairy processing companies. Starting this year, these indicators will be tested, piloted and reviewed through a stakeholder consultation process.
