IDFA Posts Materials for Webinar on New Food-Safety Bill

Jan 14, 2011

IDFA has posted highlights of major provisions of the new food-safety bill, along with an executive summary and side-by-side comparisons of the current and new law. These materials were featured in this week's webinar "Understanding the New Food Safety Law."

The webinar, which was sponsored by IDFA Business Partners Alchemy Systems and Silliker, Inc,, is open to all dairy industry participants, was led by Joseph A. Levitt, a partner at Hogan Lovells US LLP and the former director of the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. Levitt discussed what dairy companies need to know to get ready for implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act, including the new responsibilities for food companies, new import controls, new enforcement powers for FDA and new fees on U.S. industry and importers.

A video of the two-hour webinar will be available in the IDFA online bookstore soon for purchase and download.
