IDFA members and other opponents of the card check bill received good news last week when Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) announced that he would oppose the Employee Free Choice Act legislation, known as card check. Without his vote, supporters will be hard pressed to find the 60 votes needed to break a filibuster in the U.S. Senate.

"Even though we're heartened by this outcome, we must remain vigilant and engaged, because we're hardly out of the woods on this 'forced choice' act," said Connie Tipton, IDFA president and CEO.

IDFA recently sent out an alert with details and a call to action to all key contacts in the association's GrassRoots Action Network for Dairy (GRAND). Approximately 375 member representatives responded by sending more than 1,100 messages to Capitol Hill urging Congress to oppose the bill.
