USDA Expects Cloning Moratorium to Remain Indefinitely

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) does not plan to lift the voluntary moratorium on the sale of meat and milk from cloned animals any time soon, according to a Reuters article published last week. When the Food and Drug Administration concluded in January that meat and milk from cloned cattle and their offspring are safe to eat, USDA encouraged technology providers to maintain the voluntary moratorium during an unspecified transition period.
