The dairy products industry in Minnesota employs nearly 25,000 skilled individuals, generates $1.16 billion in direct wages and has an overall economic impact of $9.4 billion.

The state’s dairy companies rank sixth among the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico in contributions to the U.S. gross domestic product in 2017, according to IDFA’s economic impact tool.

The tool is designed to help tell the story of the economic power of the dairy products industry.
