September 19 marked the first major compliance date for the preventive controls rules for human and animal food under the Food and Drug Administration’s Food Safety Modernization Act.

In a recent Constituent Update, FDA addressed questions that have been raised about what the next few months will look like for human food facilities required to comply with the Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) and preventive controls requirements and for animal food facilities required to comply with the CGMP requirements.
