FDA Accepts All Changes Passed at NCIMS Spring Conference

Nov 09, 2011

The Food and Drug Administration this week accepted all 57 proposals that the National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments (NCIMS) state delegates adopted this spring at their biennial conference in Baltimore, Md.

With efforts by nearly 100 IDFA members and cooperation from other parts of the dairy industry, FDA and state regulators, IDFA advocated for reasonable regulations in the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) that permit new technologies and future study on the implications of the Food Safety Modernization Act on the Grade "A" milk regulations.

The proposals will become effective November 7, 2012, or within one year of the publication of the 2011 PMO. More details are available in the IMS-a-48 document from FDA.
