IDFA Urges FDA to Continue Dialogue on Cloning as EU Releases Its Draft Report

In a statement released last Friday, IDFA continued its call for more dialogue on animal cloning, urging the government to address consumer and trade concerns before allowing milk from cloned cows into the food supply. IDFA issued the statement after the European Food Safety Authority released its draft report on cloning and announced that meat and milk from cloned cattle are safe to eat. EFSA now must consult with the European Union states and industry before giving its final opinion, which is expected in May. U.S. news reports have hinted that the release of FDA’s final Risk Assessment on cloning is imminent. To read IDFA’s statement, click here.
