President Bush Agrees to One-Month Extension of Current Farm Bill
President George Bush announced last week that he would sign legislation to extend the current Farm Bill by one month to avoid what he called "serious disruptions" that might result if the bill was allowed to expire. The extension sets a new deadline of April 18 for Congress to come to agreement and finalize the new bill. "If a final agreement is not reached by April 18, I call on Congress to extend current law for at least one year," Bush said. IDFA will continue its work with congressional leaders to push for dairy and sugar policy reform.
