USDA Issues Amendments to Appalachian, Southeast Milk Marketing Orders

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) last Wednesday issued an interim final rule amending the current transportation credit provisions of the Appalachian and Southeast milk marketing orders. The interim final rule has been approved by Appalachian and Southeast dairy farmers. The amendments will establish a mileage rate factor using a fuel cost adjustor that is used in the transportation credit provisions of both orders. They also will increase the maximum transportation credit assessment rate for both orders and establish other transportation standards. They will become effective on December 1.
