Jim Green, President and CEO of Kemps, LLC
Receives IDFA Soaring Eagle Award

(La Quinta, Calif. — January 22, 2008) The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) yesterday presented Jim Green, CEO and president of Kemps, LLC in St. Paul, Minn., with the 2008 Soaring Eagle Award. The award was presented at a special ceremony during the 2008 Dairy Forum by IDFA Secretary Mike Reidy, senior vice president of procurement, logistics and business development of Leprino Foods Company.

The Soaring Eagle award recognizes the extraordinary service of leaders in the dairy industry and those who have provided exemplary leadership to IDFA, the International Ice Cream Association (IICA), the Milk Industry Foundation (MIF) and the National Cheese Institute (NCI).

Green served as IICA chairman from 2005 to 2007 and IDFA secretary/treasurer, 2006-2007. He also has served as IDFA chairman, IDFA vice chairman, and IICA treasurer. An IICA board member since 1996, Green has played an active role on several IICA and IDFA committees.

Perhaps one of his most important contributions was delivering the associations' Farm Bill messages on Capitol Hill and at the White House. He also has testified several times before Congress on the industry's need for dairy policy reform.

"During the past 11 years, Jim certainly has demonstrated his dedication to the dairy industry, and we're grateful for his strategic leadership, steadfast resolve and unwavering integrity," Reidy said.

Working his entire career in the dairy industry, he joined the family's milk delivery and ice cream business, Green's Dairy, as a third-generation Green when he was 15. After graduating from Princeton University, Green began a five-year management trainee program where he learned just about every job in the company, from packaging ice cream to working in the hardening room, from driving trucks to toiling in the accounting office.

"When his father, James O. Green, decided to step down and hand over the daily operations, Jim Green accepted the challenge with humility, courage and a strong sense of responsibility," Reidy said. "To this day, these leadership skills are the cornerstone of Jim's management style as well as the keys to his success."

Under Green's leadership, the family business has evolved from a local dairy in York, Pennsylvania, to the enterprise known today as Kemps LLC, a part of HP Hood.

Not content with just giving back to the industry, Green also serves on the board of trustees and as an adjunct professor at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. He also found time to join the Wooddale Church on a mission trip to Guatemala, where he helped impoverished people build new homes and new hope for tomorrow.

Previous recipients of the IDFA Soaring Eagle Award include Miriam Erickson Brown, Paul Kruse, Robert Allen, Tom Angott, Tom Badciong, Rick Beaman, C.O. "Tex" Beshears, George Cornell, Howard M. Dean, Jim Erickson, Miles Ezell, Lou Gentine, Betsy Holden, Larry Jensen, John Jeter, John Kinnett, Jr., Ed Kruse, Bill Oldenburg, Delton Parks, Arthur Pappathanasi, Tom Perry, Ronald Rice, David Rufenacht, Don Storhoff, Fay Wells and Gary Wells.
