Worldwide Food Expo 2007 Posts Great Success

(Chicago — October 27, 2007) The sponsors of Worldwide Food Expo 2007 reported that this year's event, hosting thousands of attendees from 100 countries around the globe, has been a great success. The biennial food technology event, which ran from last Wednesday through Saturday and featured about 900 exhibitors, is sponsored by the American Meat Institute (AMI) and the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA).

The sponsors reported strong participation by the key audiences they were seeking to attract to the event. The number of "qualified buyers"—food and beverage processors/packers, food distributors, retail manufacturers, etc.—was up slightly from the 2005 event. In addition to discussing technology innovations with exhibitors on the show floor, and sampling new food and beverage products, many attendees packed the Super Sessions and other educational programs, as well as the networking and social events.

"The participation of highly qualified food and beverage professionals demonstrated once again that Worldwide Food Expo is the place where dairy, food and beverage buyers continue to make industry contacts and major purchases, as well as to learn about the latest industry technology," said IDFA President and CEO Connie Tipton.

Added AMI President and CEO J. Patrick Boyle, "Worldwide Food Expo continues to draw buyers and interested parties from all over the world. They tell us that this show is their first choice because it showcases the best and newest technologies, offers excellent networking opportunities and provides a venue for buyers and sellers to explore business opportunities together."

Worldwide Food Expo 2009 will be held October 28-31 in Chicago. For more information on Worldwide Food Expo, go online to www.worldwidefood.com.

The American Meat Institute (AMI) represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Together, AMI's members produce 95 percent of the beef, pork, lamb and veal products and 70 percent of the turkey products in the United States. The Institute provides legislative, regulatory, public relations, technical, scientific and educational services to the meat and poultry packing and processing industry.

The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), Washington, D.C., represents the nation's dairy manufacturing and marketing industries and their suppliers, with a membership of 530 companies representing a $90-billion a year industry. IDFA is composed of three constituent organizations: the Milk Industry Foundation (MIF), the National Cheese Institute (NCI) and the International Ice Cream Association (IICA). IDFA's 220 dairy processing members run more than 600 plant operations, and range from large multi-national organizations to single-plant companies. Together they represent more than 85% of the milk, cultured products, cheese and frozen desserts produced and marketed in the United States. IDFA can be found online at www.idfa.org.
