BevExpo 2004 Generates Excitement in Global Beverage Industry
New Biennial Trade Event Set for Fall 2004
Chicago, Illinois, October 30, 2003 A festive champagne toast marked the official launch of BevExpo 2004 today at a press conference at Worldwide Food Expo '03. An exciting new beverage industry trade show event for the Americas, BevExpo 2004 is sponsored by the International Association of Food Industry Suppliers (IAFIS), the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and Beverage Marketing Corporation.
Scheduled for September 29-October 1, 2004, at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla., "BevExpo 2004 with Technology Innovations" will be the largest U.S.-based beverage industry trade event devoted exclusively to showcasing the innovations of suppliers in the areas of distribution, production and quality control; ingredients and formulation systems; and sales and marketing supplies and technology tools for the global $700 billion a year beverage business.
The new biennial trade event is designed to attract the full range of beverage manufacturers, bottlers, marketers and distributors of bottled water, soft drinks, milk, juices, enhanced beverages, coffee and tea, beer and other beverages, throughout the United States and Latin America, and around the world.
Why BevExpo?
"Based on our research, there is undoubtedly an unmet need for a relevant, expanded trade show in the beverage industry," says Bruce Klion, vice president of business development for Beverage Marketing Corporation. "Consolidation and globalization make for an even more dynamic industry, and trade shows remain an influential factor in beverage industry purchasing decisions."
In a recent survey conducted by Beverage Marketing Corporation, beverage industry buyers and exhibitors indicated that they are very receptive to a new trade show that would be larger and more diverse than existing beverage trade shows in the United States.
"They are looking for that one meeting where all sectors of the beverage industry - from bottled water to soft drinks, and from operations to product development - can come together. And they are looking for more information on key industry issues," says IAFIS President Charlie Bray. "We know we can deliver a superior show that meets those market needs."
"BevExpo has a number of clear advantages that I am confident will contribute greatly to our success," adds IBWA President and CEO Joseph Doss. "We are creating the type of format and educational programming that meets the industry's demand. As sponsors of Worldwide Food Expo, BevExpo's organizers have vast experience in tradeshow operations and an extensive network of buyers to tap into to attract attendees. Also, this is a truly multi-beverage show that won't be dominated by one category -
a real plus in an industry that is constantly expanding its consumer base."
With IBWA and IDFA as two lead sponsors of BevExpo, bottled water and milk - two of the hottest categories in the global beverage industry - are well represented. In addition, milk processors also bottle and market a substantial amount of juice, juice drinks, waters, teas and other beverages.
Educational Programming
Beverage Marketing's research indicates that beverage industry executives are looking for practical solutions to the industry's toughest challenges. BevExpo will address key issues and trends through exceptional educational programming.
BevExpo will include the IBWA 46th Annual Convention and the Beverage Marketing Corporation conference. The IBWA educational programs will concentrate on bottled water technologies, product and plant safety and quality control, HACCP, and federal and state regulatory issues.
Beverage Marketing's in-depth educational program will cover critical aspects of the business from the producer, marketer and distributor points of view. Topics will include distribution, logistics, finance, sales and marketing, merchandising, production and processing, and packaging. Beverage Marketing will also conduct multiple, consecutive-day sessions on a single topic to allow attendees to delve deeply into important subjects.
In addition to these educational programs, IDFA, IAFIS and the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP) - the National Milk Mustache "got milk?" Campaign - will be holding their board and committee meetings at the show. The sponsors expect other beverage-related organizations to hold events and meetings in conjunction with BevExpo; this information will be released as details are finalized.
Technology Innovations
Featured on the BevExpo show floor will be the Technology Innovations exhibits, devoted entirely to the dynamic developments in ingredient technology and product development in beverage technology - also crossing over into dairy and food technology.
Beverage and food formulators have seen a virtual explosion of new ingredient technologies - in flavors, fractionated proteins, sweeteners, functional ingredients, vitamins, stabilizers and much more. At the same time, manufacturers and bottlers are introducing an unprecedented number of innovative new products - all requiring the best in ingredient technology. Technology Innovations will feature these cutting edge developments in flavorings, sweeteners, stabilizing systems, protein and other functional ingredients-everything formulators need to create tomorrow's new products.
"Technology Innovations reflects the rapid growth of ingredient and flavor systems technology that has contributed to expanded beverage product offerings in recent years," says Tip Tipton, IDFA president and CEO. "Beverage manufacturers know they need to continually grow and diversify their product lines to keep their competitive edge. Technology Innovations will help them to develop groundbreaking new products."
Ice cream, yogurt and cheese executives attending the IDFA meetings at BevExpo will also find the Technology Innovations exhibits of great interest, considering the relevance of these applications to other dairy products and foods, Tipton noted.
More details on BevExpo 2004 are available on the show's website, www.bevexpo.com. The website will also regularly feature statistical data on the beverage industry, provided by Beverage Marketing Corporation.
