As Congress begins its seven-week recess, legislators are heading back to their home states. Now is the ideal time for dairy companies to plan to host a tour at their processing facilities. IDFA is challenging member companies to host a federal legislator or legislative staff member during August for “Take Your Legislator to Work Month.”

IDFA has updated its Plant Tour Guide, a step-by-step checklist to help dairy companies schedule and execute a successful plant tour and get the most out of a legislator visit.  Members may login to access the guide.

IDFA is also available to facilitate tours by putting members in touch with the appropriate staff for their legislators, securing tour dates and times, preparing a tour agenda and providing talking points on key dairy issues.

Through IDFA’s GrassRoots Action Network for Dairy (GRAND) program, members can find more information about Take Your Legislator to Work Month, how to set up plant tours or how to reach members of Congress.

Visit the GRAND website at www.dairycounts.org or contact Ashley Burch, IDFA director of political programs, at aburch@idfa.org.
