In addition to serving up scoops for thousands of partygoers on Capitol Hill and at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), IDFA expanded its celebration of National Ice Cream Month online, reaching a record number of ice cream lovers across America with mentions in nearly 70 news articles and social media posts that were viewed nearly 260,000 times.

“Every year our National Ice Cream Month celebration grows, giving Americans more ways to enjoy their favorite scoops and express their love of ice cream with friends and family,” said Audra Kruse, IDFA manager of communications. “With the celebration we’re fostering a community of passionate ice cream enthusiasts, all while highlighting the important contributions of the industry and people that make this beloved treat.”

Telling the Ice Cream Story

IDFA shared facts and figures about the ice cream industry, helping to tell the story of the ice cream companies and the more than 188,000 jobs they help support in communities across America.

The facts were featured in national and regional news outlets, including Fortune, Parade, USA Today, Detroit Free Press and The Sacramento Bee, as well as online-only platforms such as The Daily Meal and Bustle.

Social Amplification

IDFA published ice cream trivia polls and a variety of ice cream photos, animations and videos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The association also amplified ice cream member company celebrations throughout the month and highlighted data provided by IDFA ice cream company members.

IDFA also published videos with ice cream recipe ideas.
