The third round of negotiations on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) concluded this week in Ottawa, Canada, where Michael Dykes, D.V.M., IDFA president and CEO, engaged with U.S. negotiators as a cleared agricultural advisor.

During the talks, Dykes participated in several briefings and consulted with U.S. congressional staff, U.S. negotiators and Jacques Lefebvre, president and CEO of the Dairy Processors Association of Canada.

Dykes learned that negotiators plan to discuss dairy issues in later rounds.The next round of talks is set for Oct. 11-15 in Washington, D.C.
