Are You Prepared for Vermont GMO Labeling Law?

If you sell products in Vermont, there is no time to wait before deciding how to comply with the state’s complex law for labeling foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

So says Emily Lyons, IDFA director of regulatory affairs and legal counsel, in her recent Dairy Foods column, “Vermont is the Nation’s GMO Label Maker.” With less than six months before the law takes effect on July 1, 2016, Lyons outlines the exemptions, challenges, possible compliance strategies and fines, and offers to help members understand the new requirements.
